Cleda I. Giese, 94, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at Countryside Place Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 29, at St. John?s Lutheran Church with Rev. Ronald Brauer officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Cutler Funeral Home and Friday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Pine Lake Cemetery.
Cleda was born May 1, 1910, in Carlock, Illinois to Edward & Amelia (King) Schwarzentruber. On June 11, 1937, in Bloomington, Illinois, she married Otto E. Giese, who preceded her in death on October 22, 2002.
She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Stoler of LaPorte and two grandchildren, Kim & Chris.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Robinson on August 4, 1999, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
Cleda was co-owner with her husband of Otto E. Giese Funeral Home from 1938-1978. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was involved with Circle #8 and the Ladies Aid. She was the past president of the American Legion Post #83 Auxiliary and a former member of the Walther League Chorus. She belonged to the Whirling Square Dance, Chevrons and A-L Dance Clubs. She and her husband donated the Giese Little Church to the LaPorte Co. Museum.
