It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we share the passing of Debra Lee (Warrix) Peters, who passed away peacefully on October 25, 2026, following a brief diagnosis with cancer. Born on August 16, 1965, in Hueysville, Kentucky, to Patricia (Allen) Warrix and the late William Warrix, Deb was a wonderful wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose spirit brought joy, warmth, and kindness to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
In 2014, Deb married the love of her life, Fred Peters-whom she affectionately called her "Freddie Bear". She often shared that these past twelve years with Fred were the best years of her life. Though it took time for Deb to find the life she always dreamed of, once she did, she cherished every single day and lived with deep gratitude. Together, they created a wonderful life centered around their shared passions, making their house a true sanctuary that she carefully chose for its warmth and comfort. They spent countless peaceful evenings on the back deck watching birds feed on the feeders and having long chats, and Deb also found great joy in relaxing in her pool after work and on weekends under the watchful eye of her cat, Pearl.
Deb and Fred loved taking long motorcycle rides with friends, most recently traveling out to Deadwood, South Dakota, to ride through the Black Hills, Custer State Park, and see Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial. Animals held an extraordinary place in Deb's heart, especially cats. For many years, she would feed neighborhood cats so they wouldn't starve. She eventually persuaded Fred by showing him pictures of shelter cats every night to bring home Pearl. Along with their dog Harley who Fred brought into the marriage, Pearl and Harley were their world and their babies until they passed on. Deb had a special adoration for Pearl, giving her a life filled with affection, treats, and sunny spots to sleep in, and Pearl now patiently awaits her in Heaven.
Family was at the core of who Deb was, and she was deeply proud of her Kentucky roots, keeping a special place in her heart for the extended Warrix and Bradley/Swafford families, as well as the many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Kentucky, Indiana and beyond. She loved gathering with family, whether sitting around campfires at her brother's house, having holiday gatherings at her sister's house, or enjoying Saturday morning breakfast at her mom's house with her sister and aunts.
Deb was a deeply devoted daughter who shared an extraordinary bond with her mother, Patricia. The two loved taking road trips together, sharing endless laughs and memories. Deb called her mom every single day to check in and make sure she had everything she needed, while she and Fred lovingly took care of her mom's lawn and flowers.
To her family, Deb was the ultimate "cool" aunt-playing a vital role in raising her nephews as a babysitter, homework tutor, and master game-player, forming an essential part of the village that helped shape their lives. Later in life, she proudly took on the role of "adopted grandmother" to her great-niece, Kali. Though distance separated them, Deb adored Kali, following every moment of her growth through photos and videos over the last four years.
Florida was another favorite destination, as her absolute happy place was standing by the ocean with the sun on her face, particularly during her annual vacations to Panama City Beach, where a highlight was always stopping at Shuckums restaurant to enjoy her favorite oysters.
Deb loved deeply, cared deeply, and filled the lives of those around her with warmth and joy. Though she is deeply missed, her gentle spirit, love, and memories will live on in our hearts forever.
