Delbert "Del" Brock, Jr.

Delbert "Del" Brock Jr., 74, of La Porte, IN, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Northwest Health-La Porte.

He was born on August 16, 1951, in La Porte, IN, to Delbert and Sally (Hubbard) Brock, Sr.

On June 3, 1974, in La Porte, he married Marilyn Blankenship who survives. Also surviving are his son, Douglas Brock of La Porte; siblings, Dennis Brock of La Porte, Phyllis Bendicks of Valparaiso, Elaine Cox of League City, TX, Debbie Pinkerton of Huntington, IN, and Becky Myers of Waco, TX; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Del was preceded in death by his parents.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1996. Del was previously a member of the Vineyard Church of La Porte for several years and participated in many of their outreach ministries. He especially enjoyed the Fourth of July hot dog and water giveaway at the parade. Del has been attending the La Porte Assembly of God for the last few years.

Del, aka Deldorado, was a member of SASS and enjoyed his days with his Old West buddies. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association.

He enjoyed his days of camping and riding four wheelers on the trails and sand dunes in MI, with family and friends. When Del had his Harleys, he organized many rides with family and friends and rode many charity rides. His son, Douglas, would always make sure they would go on a a ride together every Father's Day, when Del was still able to ride his motorcycle.

Although unable to serve in the Service, Del loved his country and had great respect for those who were able to serve. He especially had a big heart for POWs. Del wore a hat in honor of POWs causing many people to stop and thank him for his service. When this occurred, Del would explain that he didn't serve and that wearing "POW memorabilia" doesn't mean the person who owns or displays it is a veteran but rather the item is connected with, commemorates, or honors prisoners of war.

Del was a CNC Operator at Screw Machine Products for 43 years. After retirement, he enjoyed watching the birds and keeping the chipmunk population under control. He loved spending time with his nephews, playing games with them, and hearing about their antics. Del enjoyed cooking on the grill and going out to eat with his friends and family. He especially liked the many trips he and Marilyn took to Mackinaw Island.

He is now in heaven, his forever home, with many family and friends that have gone before him. Del will be deeply missed.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at La Porte Assembly of God, 224 E. Boyd St., La Porte, IN.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.
