Elizabeth "Betty" Cowgill passed on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy of strength and prayer.

Betty's surviving family members include sons, Howard C. Cowgill, Michael (Donna) Cowgill, and Kevin Cowgill; grandchildren, Jeff (Tracy) Cummins, Theresa Holmes, Tracy Johnson, Candace Lindsley, Kelly (Todd) Underwood, Sarah (Jeremy) Hughes, Erica Cowgill, Howard A. (Lindsey) Cowgill, and Gunnar Cowgill; along with many great-grandchildren; great, great-grandchildren; nieces; cousins; and more.
Betty was born August 10, 1930, in Monon, Indiana. She married Howard Leon Cowgill on August 12, 1950, in La Porte, Indiana. They were married until his passing in 1983, at the age of 53.
Although it was short lived, Betty and Howard were a love affair to remember. Even through the loss, Betty continued on with her vibrant, feisty spirit, always loving her husband, but continuing to live life to the fullest. She was active in church, spent time with her family, and kept the neighborhood on their toes watching from her front porch. She was commonly known in the area as Mama Betty to many, always willing to share a smile, a joke, a prayer, love, and a little sass.
Betty only loved one other more than her family, Jesus. She was the ultimate Prayer Warrior, spending hours a day praying over friends, family, church requests, her community and more. Her relationship with Jesus was strong and very personal. We take comfort knowing she is with Him now.
Even at the end, unable to speak and limited in movement, she was able to make her wishes known. She left this world as she wished, nails painted, and dolled-up to see her husband. Betty falls into the category of "they don't make them like that anymore". She will continue to be loved and missed.
