Franklin Retired from the Michigan City Fire Department with 26 years of service from January 24, 1946 February 8, 1972. He was a past Captain, Pump Operator, and Assistant Chief. He was also a past Boy Scout Leader and a member of the Post #2536 . Franklin enjoyed woodworking.
He was a Veteran Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII serving from 1942 1945. He was in the 645th Tank Battalion, tank destroyer. He was in Campains on Anzio Beachhead in Italy, Germany, Southern France, Central Europe & Northern Africa. He received many medals of honor including the Purple Heart, 5 Bronze Stars, Oak Leaf Cluster, and the EAME Theatre Ribbon.
There will be a Private Family Service at Cutler Funeral Home and Burial will be in the Lambs Chapel Cemetery.
