Frederick Cecil Goethe

Frederick "Fred" Cecil Goethe, 78, of La Porte, IN, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Northwest Health La Porte.

Fred was born on January 6, 1948, in Monroe, MI, to Harmon and Betty (Zarend) Goethe.

On April 22, 1966, in Dundee, MI, he married Linda Dean who preceded him in death. Surviving Fred are his 2 children, Traci Nugent-Heath of Milan, MI, and Troy (Laurie) Goethe of Howell, MI; 4 grandchildren, Cassidy (Max Semeyn) Nugent of Lexington, KY, Mason Heath of Milan, Mi, Logan Goethe of Howell, MI, and Dylan Goethe of Howell MI; brother, Rich (Debbie) Goethe of Harrison, MI; 2 sisters-in-law; 1 brother-in-law; significant other, Barbara Broviak of La Porte; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sister, Jane Motylinski.

Fred was a horse trainer for 37 years, training horses for racing. He enjoyed horse racing, creating flower patio pots and hanging baskets for a greenhouse in Canton, MI, scratching off lottery tickets, and warm weather, which drove him to winter in Florida. Fred was a huge Detroit Lions fan.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A memorial service will take place at a later date.
