Gayle Lee Cunningham

Gayle Lee Cunningham, 74, of La Porte, IN, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Franciscan Health-Michigan City.

He was born on February 10, 1951, in La Porte, to Bruce and Georgia (Hoops) Cunningham.

Surviving Gayle are his 2 children, Jody (Darth) Phillips of La Porte and Jason Cunningham of Kingsford Heights; 2 granddaughters, Alexandra and Chrissy Cunningham of La Porte; sister, Marsha Davis of La Porte; brothers, Bruce Cunningham of La Porte and Randal Cunningham of Rolling Prairie; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Christopher and Nicholas Cunningham; and brother, Carl Cunningham.

Gayle proudly served in the United States Army. After his service, he worked as a casting supervisor, retiring from Accurate Castings of La Porte.

He was a sports fan, enjoying pro-football, NASCAR, and the Cubs. Gayle also enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, and listening to Creedence Clearwater Revival and Deep Purple.

Gayle will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor and his love of practical jokes. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A private family service will take place at a later date.
