Gregory Allen Reese Sr.

Gregory "Greg" Allen Reese Sr., of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on September 29, 2026. He was born at the family farmhouse on November 29, 1947 in Mill Creek, Indiana, to Lewis and Alice (Wiltfong) Reese.

From the time he was a young boy, Greg loved the outdoors. Some of his happiest childhood memories were spent trapping, fishing, and hunting with his brothers and beloved dog, Checkers. He also loved playing basketball and baseball. Greg remained a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan!

On April 14, 1967, Greg married Donna Mae Smith, who survives. Together they shared nearly six decades of marriage, building a life and raising their family together.

In 1969, Greg and his family moved to Arizona, where he worked for a bottling company. He especially enjoyed making deliveries to the Native American reservations throughout the area. In 1974, the family returned to Indiana, where Greg began working for the La Porte County Highway Department. He dedicated 35 years to the county highway before retiring.

Greg was a hardworking man who took immense pride in providing for his family and in the many years he devoted to his work. In retirement, he found joy in the simple things, especially driving his truck along the quiet county roads, reminiscing, taking in the scenery and appreciating the peacefulness and beauty of God's creation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Alice Reese, and his brothers, Lewis "Louie" and Dennis Reese.

Greg is survived by his wife, Donna; four children, Gina Cole of La Porte, Indiana, Gregory Allen (Robin) Reese Jr. of New Carlisle, Indiana, Steven (Tracy) Reese of Monument, Colorado, and Amanda (Eric) Stephany of La Porte, Indiana; grandchildren, Griffin Reese, Casper Reese, Cohen Reese, Gregory Allen Reese III, Zachary Reese, Rylee Stephany, Reghan Stephany, and Dylan Stephany; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Jeff Starkey officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
