Guy La Vaughn Hart

Guy LaVaughn Hart, 71, of New Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Northwest Health - La Porte.

Guy was born in Coldwater, MI, on September 25, 1951 to Jonas LaVaughn Hart and Verna (DeForest) Turnpaugh.

On July 28, 1973 in La Porte, IN, he married Barbara "Barb" Meyers, who survives.  Also surviving are his son, Robert (Nicole) Hart of South Bend; 6 grandchildren, Jacqueline, Makenzie, and Makayla Scarborough, Jacob (Tionna) Bright, and Breawnna and Jackson Hart; 1 great-granddaughter, Lola Bright; 7 siblings, Bonnie (Thurlow) Maggart of Fremont, Arthur (Berniece) Hart of Tekonsha, MI, Terry (Mike) Repp of Sevierville, TN, Lonnie (Linda) Hart of Kalamazoo, MI, Earlean (Pat) Mate of Coldwater, MI, Victor (Brenda) McVicker of Camden, MI, and Tammy (Kevin Lewis) Turnpaugh of Tekonsha, MI; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Christopher Leon Hart.

He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969 - 1973, serving during the Vietnam War.

Guy was a custodian for many years at New Prairie United School Corporation.  He was a member of First Christian Church, Rolling Prairie.  Most importantly, Guy loved being and playing with his grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the First Christian Church, Rolling Prairie with Pastor Taylor O'Hearan officiating.

A time of visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
