Helen Jahns, 83, LaPorte, died at 11:40 p.m. Monday (March 31, 2003) at LaPorte Hospital.
A private family service will be held at the Cutler Funeral Home with the Rev. Victor Frohne. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.
There is no visitation.
Mrs. Jahns was born Dec. 23, 1919, in LaPorte, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Schmitz) Foutz. On June 6, 1947, in LaPorte, she married Robert P. Jahns, who survives in LaPorte.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas R. Jahns, Soldotna, Alaska, and R. Michael (Leslie) Jahns, Greenwood, Ind.; one grandson, Preston R. Jahns, Greenwood; one sister, Arlene Thompson, LaPorte; her nephew David (Michelle) Thompson, LaPorte; and several nieces and nephews.
One brother, Robert Foutz, preceded her in death.
She was a member of the LaPorte First United Methodist Church. She was a 1937 graduate of LaPorte High School and had attended Indiana University. She had many friends in northern Michigan and Scottsdale, Ariz.
