Jackie Emil Koester, 77, of La Porte, IN, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Brickyard Healthcare-Terrace Care Center.

Jackie was born on August 2, 1948, in Freeport, IL, to Earl and Charlene (Delzell) Koester.

On September 21, 1974, in Chadwick, IL, he married Linda Schlagenhaufen who survives. Also surviving are his son, Zachary (Renee Boda) Koester of Clearwater, FL; and granddaughter, Olivia Koester of Clearwater, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jackie proudly served in the United States Navy from 1969 - 1973, serving on the USS Gray during the Vietnam War.

After his service, he became a truck driver. Jackie was a member of the International Order of Moose. He enjoyed camping, bowling, and golfing. Most importantly, Jackie enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Open House will be held from 1 - 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the Loyal Order of Moose, 925 Boyd Blvd., La Porte, IN 46350.
