Jean "Jeanie" Ann (Bathje) Pontius

January 5, 1942 — May 21, 2022

Jeanie passed away peacefully Saturday, May 21, 2022.

The only daughter of Walter and Mary Lucille Bathje, Jean Ann was born Jan. 5, 1942, in Mishawaka, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Ronald (Ron) and Donald (Joe) Bathje; sister-in-law, Patricia (Pat) Bathje; and love of her life, Al Pontius.

Jeanie was a graduate of Mishawaka High School: Class of 1960.

Jeanie and Al wed in 1973 and they spent 33 years together in marriage. Since his death in 2006, Jeanie has spent the last 16 years reminiscing on precious memories with him and spoke about how much she was looking forward to seeing him in heaven.

Jeanie leaves to cherish her memories her son, Kevin (Aimee) Falvey; and her daughter, Kimberly (Phillip) Balint.

Jeanie loved her granddaughter, Samantha Quartuccio; four great-granddaughters, Kadance, Alaina, Addilin and Eleanor; beloved sister-in-law, Lynda Bathje; several nieces; a nephew; extended family; and many friends.

Jeanie loved to garden and tended meticulously her flowers; her favorites were petunias, geraniums and spikes. She also loved the sweetness of the gerbera daisy. Jeanie enjoyed hosting holiday and backyard pool parties for friends and family to enjoy. Many fond memories were had at her home.

Jeanie was a past member of the La Porte Service League, Longboat Island Chapel, Bird Key Yacht Club and Longboat Key Club.

Jeanie was a resident of Longboat Key, Florida. and La Porte, Indiana.

Jeanie's smiles and infectious giggle could brighten any moment, her hugs put joy in all our days, her love and the care she gave to us will stay with us forever!
