Josephine L. Carbon, 89, LaPorte, died at 11:05 a.m. Wednesday (April 2, 2003) at her home.
A memorial service will be announced at a later time. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Cutler Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Mrs. Carbon was born April 13, 1913, in Monon, Ind., to William R. and Minna (Gordon) Helfrich. On Aug. 1, 1935, she married Harry B. Carbon, who survives in LaPorte.
Survivors include one son, William Carbon, LaPorte; one daughter, Deborah Malachoski, Basking Ridge, N.J.; five grandchildren, Michael and Robert Carbon, John Ryerson, Kim Guthier and Kevin Harder; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, John Helfirch, Las Cruces, N.M.
She was preceded in death by two brothers; and one son, Bob.
She was a member of the LaPorte First United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Monon High School.
