Judith "Judy" J. Ott

Judith J. "Judy" Ott, born in Porter, IN on October 27, 1935, passed peacefully on November 29, 2025, at the age of 90, surrounded by love in her family home in La Porte, IN.

On November 12, 1955, Judy married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" V. Ott, in Porter, IN. Their 56 years together were filled with devotion, adventure, and an unwavering partnership until his passing. Together they raised four cherished children-Kellie (Dr. Eric) Stulc, Kim (Mark) Giesler, Linda (Dr. Dennis) Miller, and Kurt (Jodi) Ott-and built a lively, growing family that eventually included many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Judy is reunited in heaven with her son, Kurt A. Ott; her son-in-law, Mark Giesler; her parents, Genevieve W. Koritz and Alfred "Archie" Koritz; and her sister and brother-in-law, Michelle Karen Tilden and Edwin Tilden.

Judy was not only a devoted mother and wife, but also a determined and hard-working professional. For more than 40 years, she and Bob owned and operated a successful real estate and appraisal business. She later served her community proudly through two terms as La Porte County Assessor.

Judy embraced life with a sense of adventure and wonder. She and Bob traveled to all 50 states and many countries, but their hearts always returned to Hawaii. Beginning in the 1970s, they visited every year, and after Bob's passing, Judy lovingly continued that tradition with her daughter, Kellie.

A woman with a generous and compassionate spirit, Judy found true purpose in serving others. She was a proud member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the St. Vincent de Paul Society, where she helped distribute food each week to families in need. She volunteered at Northwest Health, brought joy and laughter as a member of the Red Hat Society, and devoted many years to the La Porte Service League, even performing in numerous plays. Judy also delivered meals for Meals on Wheels for many years and served her community as a board member for the Friends of the Library. Having lived on Beechwood Golf Course for more than 50 years, she naturally became an enthusiastic golfer and a beloved member of the women's league.

Judy had a tender place in her heart for her Schnauzers, and many in the community will remember her faithfully walking her dogs in every season-sunshine, rain, or snow.

Above all, Judy's life was rich in the things that mattered most: family, friendship, laughter, and love. She treasured every gathering, every shared meal, and every conversation. Always the first to rise and the last to turn in, Judy lived each day with gratitude and warmth. She leaves behind countless memories and a legacy of kindness that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A private graveside service for close family will be held at a later date.
