Karen Jane Garrett

Karen, a devout Catholic her entire life, was fiercely independent, graceful and deeply loyal. She carried herself with a quiet, unwavering confidence. Karen loved life on her own terms and in the end, left this world the very same way.

Karen married Ray Garrett on July 11, 1959, where they created a union that would stand the test of time. Together they were a force, a united front, a strong pillar for one another.

Karen poured her heart into everything -- her family, friends, cooking, baking, and gardening. She loved to entertain and was the ultimate hostess, greeting her guests with a warm smile and an unmistakable attention to detail. She was a keeper of holiday traditions, making every occasion feel very special. During Christmastime, it was common to find most inanimate objects adorned with a red bow. Ray often joked that sitting for too long might result in one being placed on you as well.

She took great pride in her home, her yard and her appearance - always tending to each with care and intention. She was almost as "put together" at home as she was when she went out. She was also thoughtful and diplomatic, choosing her words carefully so as not to offend. Karen loved to laugh and laugh often she did.

Her face lit up when she saw her family and friends, but her eyes smiled the most when she saw her grandchildren. She taught her family the importance of showing up for others. Karen and Ray seized every opportunity to support their loved ones, whether attending their son's performances or cheering on their grandchildren at sporting events, dance recitals or band concerts.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, William Cannon and Florence (DeVleeschower) Cannon Holt; and her sisters, Mary Alice Hite, Margaret Carlson, and Claire Passafume.

Karen is survived by her husband, Ray; daughter, Diane (Scott) Jamieson; son, Bob (Kinnari Vora) Garrett; grandchildren, Ryan (Bergen) Jamieson and Kathryn Jamieson; and great grandson, Garrett Jamieson. Also survived by her sister, Kathleen (Curtis) Holmes; brothers, John (Mary Ann) Cannon and Michael (Denise) Cannon; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation and a Mass of Christian Burial is Friday, July 3, 2026, at Holy Family Parish-St. Peter Catholic Church. Visitation begins at 10 a.m., followed by Mass at 11 a.m. In the meantime, you can honor Karen by getting together for dinner, sharing lots of laughs, and raising a glass of CC with a splash.
