Laura Hill

Laura Louise Hill, 76, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 9, 2024.

Laura was born in La Porte, IN, on August 30, 1947 to Paul and Eleanora (Frye) Johnson.

On April 15, 1972, she married Dennis P. Hill, who preceded her in death. Surviving are her 3 children, Jeff S. Hill of La Porte, Denise (Ryan) Stewart of La Porte, and Rodney (Tammy) LaGard of Michigan City; 6 grandchildren, Tayler Woods, Mackenzie LaGard, Parker Hill, Emily Woods, Mallorie LaGard, and Brock Stewart; 1 great-grandchild, Cooper Hill; brother, Paul Murray (Shirley) Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as granddogs, Marley, Piglet, and Chipper.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Cheryl Barber and Marcia Ruminski.

Laura began her working career at K-Mart and later worked at Whirlpool, where she performed data entry. Ultimately, she retired from Screw Machine in 2018.

Laura was a member of Faith Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, volunteered in the nursery, and was a member of various clubs within the church. It was her great love for the Lord that spurred her desire to serve His Church. She will be fondly remembered for the Lord's Will being a driving force in her life.

She was a great cake baker, specializing in wedding cakes. Laura was an avid seamstress and embroiderer, often making clothing for her children, in their younger years. She and her husband, Dennis, enjoyed traveling together.

Laura's life touched many. She will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Eddie Heavner officiating.

A time of visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place following the service.
