Linda Lucille Shortt

Linda Lucille Shortt, 84, of Rolling Prairie, IN, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026, at her home, surrounded by family.

She was born on May 11, 1942, to Loran McCormick, Sr. and Adeline (Cochran) McCormick.

On November 26, 1960, in La Porte, she married Vincent Shortt who preceded her in death on January 19, 2021. Linda is survived by her son, Timothy Shortt of Rolling Prairie; sister, Nancy McCormick of Rolling Prairie; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as a few great, great-nieces and great, great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Loran E. McCormick Jr., Leonard S. McCormick, John R. McCormick, Joseph A McCormick, Joan Erickson, Evelyn Harness, Eleanor Faulstich, Vera Wroblewski and Marilyn McCormick.

In the 1950's, Linda worked at Bob's BBQ, now Jennie Rae's, where she still visited everyday. Later, Linda worked as a librarian in Rolling Prairie, where she started the first story time for children, enjoyed assisting visitors, and sharing her joy of reading. She was an avid reader who always had a book to complete.

Linda was a volunteer with Meals On Wheels, which was a passion of hers. She enjoyed being able to help those that had a need she could meet. Linda was also a member of the Red Hat Society.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Rolling Prairie Cemetery with John Marron officiating.

A time of visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
