Mahala Goers
Mrs. Mahala E. Goers, 90, of Oak Woods Manor Retirement Community in LaPorte and formerly of 507 Fourth St., died Friday, July 11, 2003, at 2:10 a.m. at LaPorte Hospital.
She was born Aug. 14, 1912, in LaPorte, to Ezra and Emma (Scott) West. On November 24, 1932, in LaPorte, she married Robert Goers, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis R. Goers of LaPorte, and Burce W. Goers of Rancho Mirage, CA. She was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel West and a sister, Marguerite Engle.
She had retired as a secretary for Mayes Roofing in LaPorte and was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had served as a past chairperson for the LaPorte County Crippled Children's Association.
A private family service will be held at a later date at Pine Lake Cemetery with Rev. Doug Hadley officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the LaPorte County Crippled Children’s Association or First United Methodist Church in LaPorte.
