Mary "Jane" Loeffler

August 3, 1946 — April 27, 2025

Mary "Jane" Loeffler, 78, of La Porte, IN, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family - the very people she cherished most in this world.

Born on August 3, 1946, in La Porte, IN, to Clarence and Leathe (Haag) Hilgendorf, Jane lived a life full of joy, laughter, and kindness. She had a special way of making everyone feel loved and welcome - whether you were family, a friend, or simply someone lucky enough to cross her path.

On May 28, 1966, in La Porte, she married the love of her life, Ronald "Wayne" Loeffler, who survives her. Together they built a beautiful family and a lifetime of memories. Jane's heart was fullest when surrounded by her three sons, Jeff (Angie) Loeffler of Buchanan, MI, Ryan (Becky) Loeffler of La Porte, and Corey (Paula) Loeffler of La Porte. She was the proud Nana to seven grandchildren, Danika (Matt Piotrowski), Paige, Aubree, Nathan, Graysen, Charlie, and Tyler (Triza Bailey). Her grandchildren always brought a sparkle to her eyes and endless pride to her heart.

Jane's loving spirit also lives on through her two sisters, Sally (Dennis) Beige of La Porte and Marti (James) Barber of Warsaw; her brother, C.J. (Dana) Hilgendorf of Sarasota; and her many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her beloved parents and brother, Kenneth Hilgendorf.

Jane worked for over 20 years as an office coordinator for INDOT, but her real work was done outside the office - creating a home filled with laughter, good food, and endless support. She was a Legacy member of Tri Kappa. Jane loved tending to her garden, cheering and placing bets on her favorite teams - the Chicago Cubs, the Bears, and Notre Dame football - and spending relaxing, sunny afternoons by the pool. Her greatest joy, though, was simply being with her family, sharing laughter, hugs, and moments of unconditional love.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Jeff Zigler officiating.

A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Tri Kappa Delta Upsilon.

Jane's life was a beautiful example of unconditional love, strength, and grace. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved her - especially her family, who will forever feel the warmth of her love guiding them.
