Ovidio Ovalle Ramos, 95, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 1, 2024.

Ovidio, husband, father and grandfather was known always for advising and helping others to improve their wellbeing. He lived a long and happy life, born in Chiriguana, Colombia on December 29, 1928. He went to study in Brazil where he graduated as an Architect.

He married Judith Abuabara for more than 50 years and had two daughters and four grandchildren who were his biggest pride. His love of literature and broad knowledge was influential in the lives of his family and friends. As an avid reader, his recommendations were always received with grace and appreciation by those around him.

His faith guided his life and was a pilar, central in the raising of his family. Dad, your life was another proof of God loving us and an example of strength, vitality, temperance, discernment, prudence, optimism, honesty, kindness, wisdom, and unconditional love.

He traveled around the world with his family and surrounded by them took his last trip to eternity. He died peacefully at home with daughters, grandchildren, sons-in-law, and a few friends.

Surviving are his loving daughters, Judith Ovalle Abuabara of Kansas City, Missouri and Monica Ovalle Abuabara of La Porte; sons-in-law, Juan Jaramillo of Kansas City, Missouri and Richard Gnaedinger of La Porte; and his four grandchildren, Anika Gnaedinger, Nicholas Gnaedinger, Oliver Gnaedinger and JanLouis Jaramillo. He is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Sabas Abuabara of San Antonio, Texas and Jose G. Chacón of Atlanta, Georgia as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Cremation will follow with inurnment at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be directed to The Holy Family Parish for the St. Joseph's School Project, 201 Bach St., La Porte, IN 46350.
