Rebecca Constance Garrett

Rebecca "Becky" Constance Garrett, 65, of La Porte, IN, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Northwest Health La Porte.

Becky was born on January 15, 1959, in Portland, IN, to John and Joan (Hoffman) Dell.

Surviving Becky are her 2 sons, John Garrett of La Porte and Ronald Garrett of Michigan City; 6 grandchildren, Kayli DeGeneres, Braxton Garrett, Payton Parmley, Richard "RJ" Stansu, Nolan Garrett, and Nicholas Stansu; stepdaughter, Jessica Marie Garrett of East Chicago; adopted daughter, Brooke (Hunter Parmley) Aloia of Rolling Prairie; 3 sisters, Jo Ella (Jerry) Hauselman of Warsaw, Jennifer (Eric) Hindman of TX, and Christine (Mickey) Reed of Springfield, IL; many nieces and nephews; as well as 4 cats, Junior, Fiona, Doodle, and Hercules.

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepson, Richard Stansu.

Becky is, was, and will always be a Registered Nurse. "Once a nurse, always a nurse" was a common quote she would use. She was instrumental in the creation of the "White Rose" program for infant loss. Becky enjoyed studying Biblical Hebrew for 4 years and had recently began studying Biblical Greek. She was very proud of her extensive learning after 60 years of age!

She was a member of the Door Church, La Porte. For 5 years, Becky faithfully served the congregation through their card ministry.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, with Pastor Chris Tomei officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
