Renissa Lyn (Bailey) Worthington

August 27, 1979 — October 8, 2022

Renissa Lyn Worthington, age 43, passed away suddenly on Saturday October 8, 2022, after suffering from post-surgical complications.  Her husband, Jeff, and cousin, Kristy, were by her side.

Renissa was born to Randy and Kathy True-Bailey in South Bend, IN, where she grew up in her elementary and middle school years, attending Kennedy and Urey schools.  Later, the family moved and built a country home on acreage in Walkerton, where she attended John Glenn High School.

Renissa was preceded in death by her father, Randy L Bailey; grandparents, Forrest and Madeline True of Tennessee; grandparents, Walker and Clara Bailey of North Liberty; and cousin Joel Hancuff.

Renissa met her husband while working at National City Bank.   After several drive through transactions, Jeff brought rolled coins into the bank just to meet her.  Renissa married the love of her life, Jeff Worthington, on November 11, 2011, and celebrated with an intimate reception at Blue Chip.

Along with her husband Jeff, survivors include her two children, Dakota Worthington (Hannah Parker) and Sydney Lawley (Griffin); stepchildren, Joel and Jayden Worthington; two sisters, Rashel Michaelis and Renee Bailey; niece Samantha Sliter; and nephew Codie Michaelis.

As a youth, you could find Renissa participating in the St Joseph County 4-H Fair, her two favorite events being Horse & Pony and Recycled Articles.  She loved to compete on her big Thoroughbred, Rebel, in the speed events and later, riding saddle seat, on her Arabian, Ruby.

Renissa was active in her community, organizing Junior Achievement events, to teach financial success to children, and participating in marathons for local fundraising.  She enjoyed catching Pokemon while antiquing for military memorabilia with her husband.
