Robert Lewis "Uncle Bob" Galloway, 78, passed away on June 2, 2025, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Born on September 23, 1946, in La Porte, Indiana, Bob brought joy and laughter to all who knew him throughout his remarkable life.
Bob was well known in Fort Wayne as a legendary barkeep-an unforgettable figure behind the counter who served not only drinks but also wisdom, humor, and heartfelt advice. His presence lit up every room he entered, and his reputation as a protector, counselor, and resident comedian earned him a special place in the hearts of many. His stories and laughter became part of the fabric of countless lives.
Among his many roles in life, none brought him more happiness than being a grandfather. He cherished his granddaughter deeply and embraced the role of "Grampa" with unmatched devotion and joy. It was this bond that fulfilled him most profoundly.
Bob's love for his family was unwavering. He was adored by them in return for his warmth, generosity, and ever-present sense of humor. He had a gift for making people laugh and feel at home. Whether it was through his famous cookies and muffins or his coveted old-fashioned Hershey's chocolate fudge, Bob expressed love through the simple joys he shared with others.
He found peace and happiness near the ocean-especially along the west coast and on Florida's beaches-which remained among his favorite places throughout his life.
Bob is lovingly remembered by his siblings, Rob Galloway, Jaimie Galloway, Ruby June Haller, Carol (Ralph) Vogel, Carl (Sheila) Galloway, Garry (Mary) Galloway, Greg Galloway, and Becky (John) Shirk; his favorite aunt, Betty Wheatbrook; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will carry forward his memory with affection.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl D. and June Rose (Oman) Galloway, Sr.; his beloved wife, Darla Jean Galloway; and his sister, Mary Galloway.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025, at La Porte Missionary Church, 104 E. 18th St., La Porte, Indiana. Burial will take place later at Pine Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church.
May Robert Lewis "Uncle Bob" Galloway's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire laughter, love, and kindness in their lives.
