Robert "Bob" M. Fleisher, 85, of La Porte, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Bob was born in Bovard, PA, on September 21, 1936 to William Luther and Blanche Ella (Wentzel) Fleisher.
On November 24, 1962 in La Porte, IN, he married Carol McBurney who survives. Also surviving are his children, Lori A. (Rick) Lazarek of Fort Wayne and Robert "Rob" W. (Teresa) Fleisher of La Porte; 3 grandchildren, Sarah D. (Jeff) Bostelman of Fort Wayne, Mason R. (Jenna and Millie Staydick) Fleisher of La Porte, and Kaylie V. (Jacob) Janssens of Fort Wayne; 2 step-granddaughters, Kristi (Mark Stone) Richie of Mill Creek and Ashley (Nic Logan) Richie of La Porte; 6 step-great-grandchildren, Shawn and Gage Stone of Mill Creek and Alexis, Ava, Dominic, and Micah Logan of La Porte; beloved sweet pup, Rowdy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gail Ann John; and brother, William A. Fleisher.
Bob proudly served in the U.S. Navy, where he was a Seabee.
He was a welder for 35 years at Howmet and a member of The Presbyterian Church of La Porte. Bob was a history buff and enjoyed exploring the numerous antique stores in La Porte. He would often be found in his basement family room where he had set up his model trains, which he loved.
Bob was an amazing husband to his wife, Carol, of almost 60 years. He loved and valued his family more than any gift he had been given. Bob will be forever remembered as the very best dad and Papa to his kids and grandchildren. He and Carol loved to take trips with their children and grandchildren, with Myrtle Beach, SC being a favorite destination. Bob never met a stranger.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service With Military Honors will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Jane Anabe officiating.
A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. At a later date, inurnment will take place at Patton Cemetery.
