Ruth Shirley (Nebelung) Martin

Ruth Shirley Martin, 84, of La Porte, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019 at Miller Health and Rehab in La Porte.

Ruth was born in La Porte, IN, on March 6, 1935 to Lawrence and Ethel (Zeitz) Nebelung.

In 1956, she married Robert Charles Martin who preceded her in death.  Surviving are her children, William (Cindy) Kaiser of Holland, MI, Claude (Vickie) Martin of Fish Lake, Jackie McGinty of La Porte, Robert (Kris)Martin of Jasper, Arkansas and Scott (Connie) Martin of La Porte; stepson, Chuck Martin of  Baroda, MI; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; son-in-law, John Wildfang; 3 sisters, Virginia Stonkus, Carol Campbell and Alice James; brother, Chuck Nebelung; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Sharon Wildfang and Connie Pease; and brother, Robert Nebelung.

Ruth volunteered for the Salvation Army.  She enjoyed her pets, playing bingo, attending her family events, reunions and activities.  Ruth especially loved spending time with her grandkids.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 3 pm (CT) on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

A time of visitation will be held from 2 pm (CT) until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.  A private burial will take place at Patton Cemetery.
