Susan A. Harbart of New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away at 11:25 p.m. on January 13, 2026, at the age of 79.
Sue was born on September 27, 1946, to Carmen and Regina Rodino of Elkhart, Indiana. She was the third of ten children.
On August 27, 1966, she married Robert John Harbart of Michigan City, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Cheshier and Cynthia Rodino; and brothers, Louis, Tim, and Tom Rodino. Susan is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert; son, Jeffrey Harbart of Michigan City; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Mark Maudlin of LaPorte; brothers, Terry and Steve Rodino; and sisters, Anita Nunemaker and Joyce Bashara. She leaves behind her four grandchildren, Brant, Ty (Grace), Paige and Jill Maudlin.
Susan graduated from Elkhart High School in 1964. She graduated from Purdue University with honors and later earned a masters degree in education from Ball State University. Susan taught in South Central School Corporation, Michigan City Area Schools, and New Prairie United School Corporation. She retired after 19 years of teaching. She also served as a computer consultant for Olive Elementary, INTEK, and Purdue North Central.
Susan spent 50 years as a member of a Michigan City craft club. She enjoyed working on quilts, tole painting, sewing and basket weaving. She also enjoyed spending time in her garden.
Susan and Robert enjoyed wintering in Leesburg, Florida, as well as spending their summers at Gravel Lake in Lawton, Michigan.
She thanked God daily for her loving husband, two wonderful children, son-in-law and four grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. A private family service will be held.
