Walter Frank Forker, 90, of Valparaiso, Indiana and formerly of Pensylvania passed away Tuesday, January 6 , 2009 in Life Care Center of the Willows in Valparaiso.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at the Cutler Funeral Home. 6:00 PM Thurs. Jan. 8th with a visitation with the family from 5-6:00 PM. There will be a Funeral Service in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. PA. 11:30 AM Monday Jan. 12th with visitation from 10:30-11:30 at the church. Burial will follow in the Spring Grove Cemetery.
Walter was born July 14, 1918 in Pottstown, PA. to William P. & Sarah (Kerr) Forker. On June 30 1945 in Spring Grove, PA he married Janet Luckenbaugh who survives.
Walter was a loving father to his five sons, Mark A. of Valparaiso IN., Thomas S. of Williamsport, PA.; Joel C. of Knoxville, TN., W. Jonathan of La Porte, Neil P. of San Pedro, CA. Other survivors are: 7 Grandchildren & 8 Great- Grandchildren, 1 Sister; Sarah Hartman of Annville, PA.
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers; William P. Forker, Jr., A. Levan Forker and Robert Forker, 2 sisters; Mary Myers and Ruth Smith
Walter was a retired ELCA Pastor. He served the following congregations; St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Harrisburg, PA., Christ Lutheran Church in Bridgeton, NJ., Atonement Lutheran Church in Asbury Park, NJ. He was a Chaplain for the Lions Club and a Police Chaplain for Asbury Park, NJ. He is currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Valparaiso. He was a graduate of Gettysburg College and Gettysburg Seminary.
