Wanda Gail (Hammonds) Burkhart

Wanda Gail Burkhart, 63, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on February 9, 2024 at Northwest Health-La Porte.

Wanda was born on July 16, 1960 in La Porte, Indiana to Herman and Gail (Kerchner) Hammonds.

On May 20, 1995, she married Charles Burkhart who preceded her in death.  Surviving are her children, David (Melissa) Stone of La Porte, Kristina Yacconi of La Porte, Michelle (Ricky) Joyner of North Liberty, and Josh Stone of La Porte; grandchildren, Malin Yacconi, Jina (Alex) Winters, Jade Yacconi, Brittoni and William Stone, Lilly and Lexxie Stone, Shane Kody, Anya Wyse, and Mathew Stone; great-grandchildren, Maya, Xavier, and Phoenix; siblings, Pam (Rick) Holbrook, Becky Mills, Jeffrey (Lori) Hammonds, and Kathy Gregorich; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Susan Stone.

Wanda was a case manager for over 20 years.  She was known for having a warped sense of humor.  She enjoyed genealogy, collecting elephants, watching movies, and going to Bob Evans.  Wanda had a passion for her children and grandchildren and was their biggest cheerleader, never missing a family event.  Her family kept her going.  For them, she persevered and was a fighter.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Ricky Joyner officiating.

The visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.  Cremation will take place following the service.
