Daniel E. Hammond

Daniel E. Hammond, 78, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, at VNA Hospice Center.

Daniel was born on August 6, 1945, in Rensselaer, IN to Daniel and Catherine Hammond.

On October 21, 1977 in Valparaiso, IN, he married Dorcas Truett, who survives. Also surviving are his 4 children, Antoinette M. Hammond of Orlando, FL, Shanon (Michael) Wroblewski of New Carlisle, Heather J. Hammond of Orlando, FL, and Daniel E. (Kaleigh Hinkle) Hammond of Mishawaka; grandsons, Jacob M. (Callie Fraling) Wroblewski of New Carlisle and Noah C. Wroblewski of New Carlisle; sisters, Elizabeth Harris, Cathy Hammond, Marian (Everett) Truett, Eileen Hammond, and Rita Hammond; brothers, Jim Hammond, Bill Hammond, Marty Hammond, Joey (Debbie) Hammond, Robert (Angie) Hammond, and Paul Hammond; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Timothy Hammond.

For many years, Daniel worked in construction as a project manager and superintendent.   He was a member of the Carpenter's Local 1005 and Millwright Local 1043.  Daniel was an avid walleye fisherman, enjoying the thrill of the challenge, especially during his trips to Lake Erie.  He was a music lover and builder.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
