Deborah Lynn Barnes-Duncan, 63, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on August 15, 2023, in La Porte, IN. She was born on December 18, 1959, in Michigan City, IN, to Robby Barnes and Edith (Dabkowski) Barnes. Known for her funny, adventurous, and selfless spirit, Deborah's life was a demonstration of love, resilience, and dedication.
Deborah was an accomplished automotive commercial detailer, a career that allowed her to express her meticulous attention to detail. She was respected in her field and was known for her hard work and dedication. Despite the demands of her career, she always found time for her personal passions, particularly her love for animals.
She had a special love for the outdoors, often finding solace and joy in her beautiful flower garden. An avid gardener, Deborah would spend hours tending to her plants and flowers, creating a vibrant oasis that was admired by all who visited. She was also known for her love of tanning, a hobby that complemented her adventurous spirit and her love for the sun.
Deborah's life was enriched by the love and joy she found in her family. She was a devoted mother to her four daughters, Brooke (Jamie) Wiencek of La Porte, Brittany Brewer of Michigan City, Amber Collins of Michigan City, and Brandi (David) Hawn of Chesterton; and beloved sister to Timothy (Tamara) Barnes of La Porte. Her eight grandchildren, Lylian, Kaylie, Abie, Allie, Kenlee, Laila, Aviel, and Brynlee were the apple of her eye. She was also a proud aunt to Brandon and Dylan, who always brought a smile to her face.
Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Robby and Edith Barnes; her brother, Gregory Barnes; and her nephew, Justin Barnes. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
