Dennis Pat Gardner, 87, of La Porte, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023 at his home, surrounded by loved ones.
Dennis was born in South Bend, IN, on November 24, 1935 to Ivan Warren and Lois Mae (Held) Gardner.
On June 15, 1957 in Michigan City, IN, he married Barbara Ganschow who survives. He is also survived by his sons, Robert (Debbie) Gardner of La Porte, Patrick (Debra) Gardner of La Porte, Doug (Shari) Gardner of Michigan City, Dennis (Dawn) Gardner of La Porte, and John (Shelly) Gardner of Terre Haute; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great, great-grandchild; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Michael and Jack Gardner.
Dennis was a truck driver for 35 years with Teamsters Local 142. He was the previous owner of Pat's Place, Pleasure Inn, and One Stop Garage. Dennis was a previous member of the Michigan City Moose Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking, bowling, golfing, camping, and fishing.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service with local Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the donor's choice.
