Derald Robert "Bob" Giles

Derald Robert "Bob" Giles, 72, of Union Mills, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at home.

Bob was born in Lake Preston, SD, on July 17, 1948 to Eugene and Beulah (Olson) Giles.

On August 28, 1976 in Ft. Madison, IA, he married Joyce Niggemeyer who survives.  Also surviving are his children, Michele Winkel of Ash Fork, AZ and Robert (Debra) Giles of St. Petersburg, FL; 5 grandchildren, Taylor (Ben) Winkel of Scandia, MN, Savanha (Jordan) Winkel of West Saint Paul, MN, Megan (Hunter) Mynatt of Abingdon, IL, Matt (Diedra) Giles of Oswego, IL, and Lucas Giles of Scandia, MN; siblings, Curt (Judy) Giles of WA, Deloris (Don) Johnson of Vail, AZ, and Rose Keen of Watertown, SD; and nephew, Mark (Valerie) Lucas of Kingsford Heights, IN; as well as several other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Delmar Giles.

Bob owned and operated a trucking company for over 30 years.  He was a member of the Lions Club.  Bob enjoyed gardening and flowers.  He loved to fish.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held from 6-8 p.m., with stories and reminiscing at 7 p.m., on Friday, July 9, 2021 at the Union Mills Conservation Club, 100 Mill Pond Road, Union Mills, IN  46382.  Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at St. Mary's Cemetery in West Point, Iowa.
