George Andrew Johnson

George Andrew Johnson, 94, of La Porte, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Golden Living Center La Porte.

George was born in Michigan City, IN, on July 26, 1925 to George and Celeste (Cashbaugh) Johnson.  He proudly served in the US Air Force.

On July 17, 1948, he married Lois Marie Reed, who preceded him in death.  Surviving are his children, Keith Johnson of Elkhart, Mark Johnson of Valparaiso, Kent Johnson of Valparaiso, and Kara Phillips of La Porte; 4 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and all siblings, Jeanette, Celeste "Ruth", Dick, and Lois Rae.

George was a self-employed carpenter/builder all of his life.  He was a veteran with the US Air Force.  George was also a member of St. John's Church.  He loved bowling, walking his dogs, fishing, and trying golf.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.  Graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at St. John's Cemetery, corner of A St. and 10th St., La Porte.
