George Martin Royster, III

June 18, 1940 — November 9, 2020

George Martin Royster III, age 80, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Northwest Health Hospital in La Porte, IN.

George was born on June 18, 1940 in Evansville, IN to George Martin Jr. and Mary Prince Royster.  He is survived by his younger brother, Stephen (Beth) Royster of Oregon, WI.  Other survivors (and George's pride and joy) include his son, Tim Royster of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Jill (Andrew) Nielsen of Bentonville, AR; and his grandchildren, Bailey and Tyler Nielsen.  Additional special people in his life included his nieces, Robin (Dave) Elvig of Eau Claire, WI and Susan Anthony of San Luis Obispo, CA; and cousins, Bob (Jane) Royster and Peggy (Tony) Askew, all of North Carolina.

George enjoyed working for 32 years as the Registrar at Purdue University North Central. Though he put his heart and soul into his work and adored his coworkers, he lived for his Indiana Hoosiers! George graduated with his bachelor's degree from Indiana University and master's degree from University of Kentucky (yet he never acknowledged to be a Wildcat!). George was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and kept in close contact with his fraternity brothers for over 58 years!

Those who knew George describe him as kind-hearted, gentle, sensitive and caring; yet these wonderful qualities were certainly accompanied by a dry sense of humor. "George was one of my favorites" was a comment often made by many. He was truly loved, and the world was fortunate to have such a kind soul in its midst for the last 80 years.
