August 30, 1983 ~ September 7, 2023 (age 40) 40 Years Old

Obituary

Holly M. Kolasa, a beloved wife, mother, and community member, passed away unexpectedly on September 7, 2023, at Franciscan Health Michigan City. Born on August 30, 1983, in La Porte, IN, to Linda (Flory) and David W. Hershman, Holly's life was filled with love, laughter, and a commitment to her family and career.

In Nov. 2004, Holly gave birth to Caleb Alexander Kolasa, who survives. On June 24, 2006, Holly married Craig A. Kolasa, who also survives. On Dec 31, 2009, Holly gave birth to Alexis Nicole Kolasa, who survives. Her love for her family was evident in everything she did, from the way she nurtured and raised her children, to the support and companionship she provided her husband. A beacon of love and strength, Holly's unwavering devotion to her family will always be remembered.

An alumna of La Porte High School, Holly graduated in 2001 and embarked on a successful career at Horizon Bank. For 17 years, she worked diligently and passionately, rising to the position of Assistant Branch Manager. Her colleagues admired her professional dedication and the exceptional work ethic she brought to the bank. Holly was a respected figure in her field, and her contributions to Horizon Bank were significant and impactful.

Beyond her professional life, Holly had a profound love for music. She found joy in the rhythm and harmony of songs, often sharing this passion with her loved ones. Family gatherings were incomplete without Holly's favorite tunes filling the air. She was also the heart of family cookouts and parties. She loved spending her weekends fresh water fishing.  Holly's infectious laughter and warm spirit made each event memorable.

In moments of quiet, Holly found solace in puzzles. She enjoyed the challenge and satisfaction they brought, often spending hours immersed in complex jigsaw patterns. Her patience and determination were evident in these moments, reflecting her approach to life's challenges. Holly's love for puzzles served as a metaphor for her life - a complex, beautiful picture made up of many pieces.

Holly is survived by her siblings, Mandy (Andy) Lynn Olse of Michigan, DeAnna (Bruce) Hopper of Illinois, Michael J. Hershman of Indiana, and Katie (Greg) Marciniak of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Sarah (Marcus) Beal of Michigan; and brother-in-law, Michael Kolasa of Michigan. She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews.  Also surviving are Holly's grandmother, Helen Hershman of Indiana; father, David Hershman of Indiana;  stepfather, Larry Brooks of Indiana; in-laws, Greg (Kathy) Kolasa of Michigan and Karen Rueter of Indiana; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
