Janet Christine (Schroff) Erne

Janet Christine Erne, 71, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at her home.

Janet was born on December 10, 1949 in La Porte, IN, to James and Henrietta (Schroeder) Schroff.

On July 24, 1992 in La Porte, IN, she married John David Erne, who survives.  Also surviving are her son, Alan James Barber of La Porte; 2 stepdaughters, Angela (Jeff) Nelson of Bloomington, IL and Elaine (Michael) Waters of Chicago, IL; 6 grandchildren, Cassandra (Stephen Jr.) Owen of La Porte, Amber Bennett of La Porte, Axton Barber of La Porte, David Barber of La Porte, Allie Jo Nelson of Bloomington, IL and Lillian Grace Waters of Chicago, IL; brother, James (Kathy) Schroff, Jr. of Koontz Lake; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Janet held various positions at GTE, where she worked for 27 years.  She enjoyed gardening, long county cruises, arts and crafts, and cooking.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.  Burial will take place at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, at a later date.
