Marilyn Sue Gierke, 80, of Rolling Prairie, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at her home.
Marilyn was born in La Porte, IN, on February 12, 1940 to Willard George and Katherine Lillian (Schoch) Senne.
Surviving Marilyn are her children, Steve (Becky) Gierke of Valparaiso, Sharin (Doug) McGuire of Rolling Prairie, and Scott (Cindy) Gierke of Brandon, FL; 6 grandchildren, Matthew Gierke, Adam Gierke, Erika Burcham, Jonathan Gierke, Heather McKay, and Phillip Tampourlos; 3 great-grandchildren, Ryon and Timothy Burcham and Micah Gierke; siblings, Marsha Gourley of Rolling Prairie, Shirley Lamb of La Porte, and Carl Senne of Greer, SC; sister-in-law, Jenice Senne of La Porte; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; companion, Ed Schauberger; brother, George Fredrick Senne; great-grandson, Keegan Gierke; and ex-husband, Albert William Gierke, Jr.
Marilyn was a casino cage teller for many years. She was a member of Lambs Chapel United Methodist Church and the Polish Falcons of America. Marilyn was an NBA and NFL fan. She enjoyed volunteering with the Good Shepherd Food Pantry, traveling, and playing video poker. Although she dearly loved her cats, spending time with her family and friends was of utmost importance to her.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Lambs Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Jay Loucks officiating.
A time of visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
Due to the recent Governor's Order, anyone attending the visitation and/or service is required to wear a mask.
